New Fuels, New Jobs?
That's how some experts hope we'll be able to solve two problems: global warming and a global recession. But can it really work?
Planet Forward, the web site and TV special produced in collaboration with Public Agenda, takes a look at the subject in its web-exclusive program, "New Fuels, New Jobs?", which premiered this week and is now viewable online. You won't want to miss it: Van Jones, President Obama's green jobs advisor, joins Planet Forward host Frank Sesno in a review of ideas submitted by citizens and experts on whether we should move away from fossil fuels and if so, how we should do it.
Some of the stories front and center in this program include a group of neighbors in the California desert who banded together for do-it-yourself solar power; a Sioux tribe in South Dakota that's combining traditional ways with modern technology; students at a green dorm in D.C. who've slashed energy use at an impressive rate; a discussion of how lighter, more efficient cars might revitalize Detroit; and an assessment of how much of civilization could be powered by the sun.
Perhaps you, too, have a good idea on how to move the planet forward, and a great way to share it is to join our continuing debate online.
