Privacy Policy for Public Agenda Online
Public Agenda is a nonprofit research organization. Any information we collect through this Web site is solely for our own use in managing and improving our service.
Our Web site is free and available to anyone. For some services, such as e-mail newsletters or free downloads of our research reports, we may ask you for personal information. Any information you give us (including your e-mail address) will never be sold or otherwise released to any third party.
You may make an online donation to support Public Agenda. Your donations are processed by Groundspring.org, a nonprofit organization that uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to protect your credit card information. This is the same industry-standard encryption technology used to protect information on other secure shopping and charitable Web sites.
When you make a donation, you are subject to Groundspring.org's privacy policy. We recommend you read it yourself, but the personal information you give during the donation process (including your name, address, e-mail and credit card number) is retained by both Groundspring and Public Agenda. Public Agenda will not make that information available to any third party, nor will we authorize Groundspring to do so.
As a donor or registered user, Public Agenda may contact you in the future to keep you informed about our work, both by e-mail and postal mail. If you do not wish to receive further information from Public Agenda, contact us at support@publicagenda.org.
We collect data about traffic on our site, such as the number and type of pages viewed and your computer's I.P. address. We use this information to improve our site, and aggregate totals may be provided to the organizations that help fund our work. But we do not and will not match usage data with personal profiles to track individuals. In other words, we will make general information about site activity available to our funders. But no one will ever know which pages you specifically visited, or any other individual information about you.
We offer a free weekly e-mail service to those who request it and may send other e-mail messages occasionally to let you know about new Public Agenda studies or projects. If you've been receiving the alert and wish to cancel the service, send a blank e-mail message (nothing needs to be written in the subject line or body of the text) to leave-public-agenda-online-alert@lists.lyris.net.
We offer a Forward-To-A-Friend service allowing you to e-mail Public Agenda Online pages to a friend. If you choose to use this service, we will ask you for your friend's e-mail address. We will use the e-mail address to send the page on a one-time-only basis. We will not retain your friend's e-mail or provide it to anyone else. We will not retain your e-mail address, either, unless you specifically ask to be added to our e-mail alert list.
We offer links to other Web sites. Their privacy policies may differ from ours and we take no responsibility for them.
If you have any other questions or wish to change your profile information (such as your e-mail or postal address), send e-mail to support@publicagenda.org and we'll be happy to help you.
