Daniel Yankelovich

Daniel Yankelovich is a founder and chairman of the social trends market research firm DYG, Inc. and Viewpoint Learning, which focuses on dialogue-based learning as a core skill in leadership. He established the public opinion research firm of Yankelovich, Skelly and White and created The New York Times/Yankelovich Poll, which subsequently merged with the CBS Poll. He is a director of Loral Space and Communications, Inc. and director emeritus of CBS, Inc., Meredith Corporation, Arkla, Reliance, and US West.

A founding president of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics, Mr. Yankelovich is also chairman emeritus of the Educational Testing Service and a director at the Kettering Foundation, the Institute for Global Ethics, and the Japan Society.

Mr. Yankelovich was Research Professor of Psychology at New York University and Professor of Psychology on the Graduate Faculty at the New School for Social Research. He has also worked closely with Brown University, where he is a Trustee Emeritus.

The author of nine books, including Coming to Public Judgment: Making Democracy Work in a Complex World, The Magic of Dialogue and Profit With Honor: The New Stage of Market Capitalism, Mr. Yankelovich is known for his prescient analysis of America's changing values and mores.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Harvard University, Mr. Yankelovich was the Rantoul Fellow in Clinical Psychology at the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Mr. Yankelovich holds honorary doctorates from Washington University, George Washington University, and St. Bonaventure University. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1999.

He is the recipient of The Parlin Award for his pioneering work in marketing research, the Dinerman Award of the World Association of Public Opinion Research and the Outstanding Achievement Award from the New York Chapter of the American Association of Public Opinion Research.
