Andrew Yarrow
Andrew Yarrow works to further develop government, public policy organization and media relationships and writes and speaks on behalf of Students Face Up to the Nation's Finances, our nonpartisan curriculum on the federal budget deficit and national debt.
Yarrow is an adjunct professor of U.S. history at American University. He is the author of History of U.S. Children's Policy, 1900-present as well as Forgive Us Our Debts: The Intergenerational Dangers of Fiscal Irresponsibility and an upcoming book, "The Measure of America: The Rise of Economic Thinking and Changing Ideas About America in the Post-World War II Era."
Other publications include "Latecomers: Children of Parents Over 35" in 1991, and numerous articles in academic journals, newspapers, and magazines. From 1981 to 1992, he was a reporter for The New York Times, at various times covering style, culture and metropolitan news and serving as a research editor for The New York Times Magazine.
Yarrow was previously the Director of Outreach for Special Projects in the Economic Studies Program at The Brookings Institution. His experience in public policy in Washington and New York includes positions at the Export-Import Bank of the United States, the U.S. Department of Education, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the U.S. Department of Labor, the National Endowment for the Arts, The World Bank and the Carnegie Commission on Preventing Deadly Conflict.
Yarrow has a Ph.D. in history from George Mason University, an MPA from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, an M.A. in History from Princeton University, and a B.A. in history from the University of California, Los Angeles.
