December 5, 2023 – Public Agenda, a non-profit research-to-action organization dedicated to creating a democracy that works for everyone, announced today that it received $278,840 in support from Arnold Ventures to survey people with employer-sponsored health insurance about their views on regulating hospital prices.
“Hospital systems’ prices get passed on to employers and employees in the form of expensive insurance premiums and cost-sharing,” said David Schleifer, PhD, Vice President and Director of Research at Public Agenda. “This project will equip employers with evidence about employees’ support for and concerns about policies to address hospital prices.”
Public Agenda’s representative survey of people with employer-sponsored insurance will build on the organization’s qualitative research about employee views of the employer role in addressing hospital prices, also supported by Arnold Ventures. Next year, Public Agenda will release a report with findings and recommendations and will implement a communications strategy to engage employers and employer organizations as well as state and federal regulators and policymakers.
