Anthony utilizes his wealth of experience to lead the communications team – working alongside the leadership team to champion the mission, grow the organization, and help fulfill its purpose of strengthening democracy and expanding opportunity for all Americans to shape their communities and our country. With over a decade of communications experience in senior roles, he comes to Public Agenda from social activism agency Don’t Cry Wolf, where he served as a senior public relations consultant, and previously from research firm Morning Consult.
As Senior Communications Consultant for Don’t Cry Wolf, Patterson provided integrated marketing strategy expertise for their U.S. based clients. He was an integral part of the highly successful global brand activism campaign from DCW client Tangle Teezer, “Hairytales,” centered around the natural hair movement and inclusivity in children’s literature. Prior to Don’t Cry Wolf, Patterson was Senior Director of Communications for Morning Consult, serving as the company spokeswoman. In this role, he helped communicate the organization’s agenda and worked closely with newsrooms from Bloomberg to The New York Times to shape their coverage using research.
Prior to Morning Consult, Patterson worked for several different agencies including Clarity, WE and Edelman, previously working on brands such as The Economist, Financial Times, Virgin, and Xerox. Originally from Virginia, Patterson earned a master’s degree in gender, media and culture at The London School of Economics and Political Science.
