Georgia
A partnership between Georgia Watch Inc., Georgians for a Healthy Future, the Morehouse School of Medicine, and Georgia Advancing Communities Together provided training and resources on advocacy and organizing for community health workers (CHWs) to enable them to mobilize marginalized communities around policy issues.
Community health workers are well integrated into the community but lack a unified framework for civic advocacy that uplifts voices rarely heard in policy discussions. The infrastructure developed through this project will provide Georgia’s CHWs with a working knowledge of advocacy best practices; ensure they have a core set of advocacy skills at different policy levels; equip them with the tools and resources they need to strategically mobilize marginalized communities around policy issues; and enable them to train their peers, creating a sustainable ecosystem of civic advocacy and community organizing around health equity.
